Getting on without all the spam

This site has been bombarded with Spoofers and Spammers doing their best to try and send their junk email out using this domain. Well I've made some modifications and it'll be a little bit harder now for those who have been abusing the system. Unfortunately it has kept me offline from writing here in the process. So I'm on board once again to bring you the latest.

The Bringing the House Down exhibition that was on in Canberra last year is back again, but a little later than usual from its original starting place. Brisbane is hosting the grand opening of the show and it won't be until May 21st beefore it hits the Nations Capital. RMIT in Melbourne will even see it before that date. I'll keep you posted on the dates.

Nice Bits

There aren't too many sites or signs of use around of great design and style in cartoon animated Flash stuff, speaking from my own encounters (as opposed to some who should have a life other than being on the net 24/7). It seems that anyone with a computer and the software becomes a self proclaimed wizard and grand poohbah at cartoon art and or design. Might sound a little snobby but when you've seen the impact on the industry from these less than amateurish attempts it really does burn a bad impression on some peoples minds in to thinking and associating poor cartoon or animation with us freelancers. Many times I've had to redo or start from scratch on jobs that others have attempted and passed on as their "complete" work. Only to find the client cringe in disgust and sour as they try to find someone who will do the work properly in far less time and with more professionalism. It's hard to handle in the industry and I can only say to those out there who have had this happened to them that you're not alone.

If you want to see some excellent animation as an example of what Aussies can produce check out Winged Sandals. This is a fantastic site and I would have loved to have contributed to something like this. Greek Mythology was a favourite of my school subjects. A friend of mine Nancy Beiman worked as a character designer and lead animator on the 3 Fates in Disney's Hercules. I was even going to use Hermes as a character on my site here but never got around to doing it. I still have the artwork so I may do that still. It's great to read those stories. I love the titans.
