What started out as a relaxing weekend at the National Cartooning Conference and Awards night turned very quickly in to a test of the human liver as red wine became abundent. With too many younger more impressionable folks around I put myself forward voluntarily to ensure the safety of these people by consuming any red wine that may have come in to appearance. Hence this photo after I was announced the recipient of Best Cartoon drawn on the night.

Very expensive wine was won and a Wacom drawing tablet also. Not bad.
Earlier ...

That'd be me doing my best Stan Laurel impersonation in front of (L-R) Tom Jellet, David Pope, John "Polly" Farmer, Jon Kudelka.
During the conference I was farting about as usual with Wacom's new tablet come monitor. 19" screens you can draw direct on. This was a quiet moment as there were lectures going on so I snuck behind the screen to play with these things. I had a large audience behind me later witnessing how this new technology still allows me to draw characters nude and get a laugh and a half.

If you've never seen Mr Squiggle in the flesh then here he is with David Pope's sister on our left and Judy Horacek on the right.

And the winners of the National Cartoon Awards are ....

L-R: Sean Leahy (Best Comic Strip - Beyond the Black Stump), Rod Emmerson (Best Political Cartoon), Rolf Heimann (Best Digital Artist), David Pope (Best Single Gag), David Rowe (Best Caricaturist), Weg (Silver Stanley), Sturt Krygsman (Best Humorous Illo) and me down the front for Cartoon on the Night.
